Digitalization of the Haulage Industry
Haulio Connectivity System (HCS), a mobile app which complements our existing Haulio Community Platform (HCP) was officially launched on Wednesday, 20th February 2019.

This event was graced by Senior Minister of State, Ministry of Health and Transportation, Dr. Lam Pin Min, along with our distinguished associates, hauliers , partners and media friends. The event kicked off with the welcome speech by our Co-Founder and CEO, Mr. Alvin Ea, who emphasized on the introduction of technology that will hopefully revitalize and bring attract younger generations into this “sunset” industry, while simultaneously upgrading the skills of the older workers.
Apart from HCS launch, there were also representatives from various partners such as PSA International (PSA), Info-communications Media Development Authority (IMDA), NTUC Supply Chain Employees’ Union (SCEU), and Global e-Trade Services (GeTS). These partners took turns to share how everyone plays a part in embracing technology to support the future of Singapore’s move towards a Smart Nation.
In addition, there were several exhibitors who were present, such as UOB, Starhub, Smart Walkie, Goldbell Engineering, Info-tech, who showcased their products and services in line with the theme – Digitalisation of Haulage Services.
After the HCS app was launched, Mr. Vincent Loo from Yang Kee Logistics Pte Ltd also shared about Logistics Integrated Transport Ecosystem (LITE), which is a S$1.8 million project supported by Enterprise Singapore. The cloud-based platform will connect multiple stakeholders such as hauliers, depot operators and freight forwarders into one system. The integration process between Haulio’s HCP and LITE is expected to be finished by the end of 2019.
Our CPO, Mr. Sebastian Shen, then took the stage to share with the attendees on how the drivers can use HCS in their daily tasks and he then proceeded to show several features that HCS offer to the users. These features are designed to reduce the paperwork and manual labor that is otherwise needed with the current system. The product demonstration included several animations to show how HCS works.
Signing of MOU with Yang Kee Logistics
At this event, Haulio and Yang Kee Logistics also signed a Memorandum of Understanding (MoU) to integrate our web portal, Haulio Community Platform (HCP) with the LITE system to further connect various stakeholders in the industry. The MoU is signed by Mr. Alvin Ea (CEO, Haulio Pte Ltd) and Mr. Sebastian Shen (CPO, Haulio Pte Ltd) with Mr. Koh Yang Kee (Chairman, Yang Kee Logistics Pte Ltd) and Mr. Chan Hsien Hung (General Manager, Yang Kee Logistics Pte Ltd) and witnessed by SMS Dr. Lam Pin Min.
Both Haulio and Yang Kee Logistics hope to see more than 150,000 job transactions and 900 prime movers on the combined platform of HCP and LITE in the next 3 years.
Guest Speakers
Mr. Ang Wee Dee (Asst. Vice President of Haulage Services, PSA) shared about how PSA envision Haulio in playing a part in the future of containers movement in the world. Mr. Ang emphasized on the seamless connectivity that will help to digitalize trailers and to transit hauliers and drivers into the Tuas Megaport Smart Gate Concept and Crane Automation System.
Subsequently, Mr. Edwin Liok (Deputy Director for Industry Digital Plans & Strategies, IMDA) also shared about the importance of Small and Medium Enterprises (SMEs) to embrace technology and move towards digitalization. Mr. Liok also shared how the government provides help to allow SMEs head-start to digitalize their business.
This is followed by Mr. Iqbal Siraj’s (Executive Manager for E-Invoice Project, IMDA) presentation on improving efficiency and reducing paperwork. Mr. Siraj suggested the use of technology to digitalize the use of traditional paper invoices into E-Invoicing system that allows smoother and more cost efficient operations.
In order to for the workers to stay relevant in the industry and equipped with the right skills, Mr. Rayner Teo (Senior Industrial Relations Officer, NTUC Supply chain Employees’ Officer) shared with the hauliers that there are programmes prepared for the workforce to work at businesses who adopted the Industry 4.0 technology.
Lastly, Mr. John Tan (Sales manager, GeTS) talks about services that GeTS provides for businesses such as CALISTA, TradeWeb and Busines Process Outsourcing (BPO). These services aim to bring efficiency and provide businesses with solutions to tackle complex trade challenges.
