In mid-March 2022, diesel prices reached a record high of S$2.90, creating a significant impact on the cost distribution between our procurer partners and haulier partners. In response, Haulio swiftly introduced an Emergency Fuel Surcharge (EFS) of S$15 per container to balance this cost disparity.
To tackle the challenge posed by fluctuating fuel prices, Haulio implemented the Variable Fuel Surcharge (VFS) on 20 April 2022. This proactive step was taken to ensure that the actual cost of trucking jobs accurately reflected the changing fuel prices, as a static EFS (Estimated Fuel Surcharge) was insufficient in this regard.
The VFS demonstrates our commitment to our valued partners, ensuring a fair and transparent pricing structure that accurately aligns with prevailing commercial diesel prices.
Explore our blog post, “The Impact of Rising Fuel Prices on Hauliers in Singapore“, to gain deeper insights into how increasing fuel costs affect the haulage industry in Singapore and the necessity of the VFS.
At Haulio, we understand the importance of providing a platform that not only connects hauliers and procurers seamlessly but also ensures fair compensation for the services rendered, particularly in today’s volatile diesel environment. We remain dedicated to constantly reviewing and evaluating the situation to ensure that our pricing mechanism remains responsive and equitable.
